MORNINGSTAR BRISKET

Brunch just found its main character. Our Morningstar Brisket is slow-cooked to fall-apart perfection, infused with the smoky heat of The Morningstar salsa and layered over sweet, tender onions.

(Tip for this recipe: Let the brisket rest in its juices for at least 15 minutes before slicing, then cut against the grain.  This keeps it tender and lets it soak up even more of that Morningstar flavor when you spoon the sauce back over the top.)

Ingredients

Brisket

  • 3–4 lbs beef brisket
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 cup of The Morningstar salsa
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

Brisket

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the brisket on both sides for 2–3 minutes until nicely browned.
  2. Place the sliced onions at the bottom of your slow cooker or Dutch oven. Lay the seared brisket on top.
  3. In a small bowl, mix of The Morningstar salsa, broth (or water), and apple cider vinegar. Pour over the brisket.
  4. Cook low and slow
  5. Slow Cooker: Cover and cook on low for 8–10 hours or on high for 5–6 hours until fork-tender.
  6. Oven: Cover tightly and roast at 300°F (150°C) for 4–5 hours, basting once or twice.
  7. Remove brisket and let rest for 15 minutes. Slice against the grain. Spoon salsa-onion sauce over the top and serve.
